AQUILASMUS ESN L'AQUILA constitutes the local section in L'Aquila of the Erasmus Student Network association.

ESN is a pan-European student network, established in Copenhagen in 1990 to promote student mobility and offer information and support services, to all outgoing or incoming students with a scholarship related to LLP programs. ESN is currently present in more than 430 Universities on 37 European and non-European countries, operates on the basis of voluntary commitment of its 13500 active members, with the aim of encouraging and supporting student mobility in higher education, according to the "SHS" principle 'Students Helping Students'.

ESN cooperates with the EU and other international bodies on the ambitious project of generating a European identity and fostering social development based on the principles of peace, cultural integration, respect for ethnic diversity and knowledge transfer. ESN's commitment is projected in the enhancement of social policies that affect young people, as part of its educational and professional path. Since December 2007 Aquilasmus has officially become one of the 53 Italian sections (membership in ESN Italy was ratified on December 15, 2007 during the 5th National Platform 2007 in Camerino).  The Italian network was established in 1994 on the initiative of members of the oldest Italian sections (Siena, Parma, Pavia, Milan, Trento, Bologna, and Genoa) interested in creating a coherence of purpose and coordination of activities that would replicate at the national level the organization of the larger international network.

ESN Italy offers services to foreign guest students at Italian universities and aims to foster the mobility of Italian university students to other countries. Specifically: '¢ Provides reception and counseling to foreign guest students for a period of study at an Italian university (through a service ranging from finding accommodation to tutoring and organizing cultural and recreational events that promote the integration of the foreign student into the local university environment); '¢ Provides an up-to-date information service on European inter-university exchange programs, developing a systematic evaluation of them, through the experience of students who have taken part in them in the past.
ESN operates in the University of L'Aquila through the activities of Aquilasmus, whose management and ordinary administration is entrusted at the local level (on the model of the organization of the National and International Associations) to a Board of Directors, composed of at least:
o President,
o Secretary,
o Treasurer

The Board operates by mutual agreement with the Members' Assembly.
ESN members meet periodically at the
 - local (Members' Assembly)
- national (National Platform)
- international (Annual General Meeting).
All students, especially those interested in exchange programs or those who are returning from a period of study abroad, can become members of Aquilasmus.
The latter, with their experience, are best suited to provide help, advice and useful information to those who are arriving from a foreign country or are planning to leave on an LLP exchange program.
